Professor where?

So, it’s March 15th today meaning, first day of the 6. Semester. The first class was Qualitymanagement, from 8.15am until 9.45am. After that Geomedia, from 10am to 13.15pm. Two classes – one professor.

I arrived at the University Building at about 8am. Friends and I looked at the bulletin board to see if classes got cancelled. Geomedia got cancelled – it first starts next week. Not a bad thing. So we’re walking to the auditorium 115 where the class Qualitymanagement should take place. It’s 8.15am. No professor. It’s 8.30am. No professor. It’s 8.45am. No professor. We go to the secretariat to find out – the professor isn’t here today.

It’s the first day of class and it’s already pissing me off. We have about one professor who will let us know that he is not there. So we, the students know, we don’t have to get up early, we don’t have to drive to class – because the professor let us know HE IS NOT THERE.

BUT – that’s only one professor. The other profs are just not there. Nobody tells us, sometimes a not will hang on the bulletin board, but sometimes, the prof just doesn’t come and we sit there. Not knowing what’s going on.

It annoys me so much. So I got up early this morning to drive to class (I’m lucky I live in Munich close to my buliding – I can go by bike and it takes 15-20 minutes). I drive to the building, wait in the auditorium to realize – I can drive back home.

AARRGGHHHH!!!! I’m soo happy when I’m done with studying. Do you deserve this kind of “service” when you’re paying a lot of money to be able to study?

  1. That sounds quite unprofessional. Perhaps you and your classmates should calculate how much those classes cost (because you’re still getting charged for it even though the professor isn’t there) and demand a refund.

  2. Even when you pay $30,000 a year for your education and you drive almost an hour to class every day, professors still do that. I guess it’s the same everywhere.

  3. That sucks! I would be really mad. They should be responsible and let students know! They waste your gas and they should pay lol! =( Good thing you live close by though!

  4. i hate it when profs do that.. if you’re gonna be away.. put a note on the door or something… you guys (the students) are paying him to be there so he should be there.

  5. That is so lame. We pay all this money, the *least* they can do is give students a heads-up. None of my teachers have done that yet, thank goodness, but I still think it’s foul to hear abt. 🙂

  6. Hehe I had things like that happen to me too. I’m NEVER late for school, but this one time my cell phone died and my alarm didn’t ring, so I sort of overslept – I woke up at 8 o’clock, and school starts at 8 o’clock. So I ran to the bathroom, got dressed and half-ran to school and arrived there at 10 past 8 (it’s two blocks from here, I can walk).
So I open the door to my classroom – and it’s not our teacher but the headmaster of our department, telling us our teacher is sick and we are free to go to the city to get a coffee. Well great. Might just as well have stayed in bed…
Oh by the way, I looooove this new layout! 🙂
