The Fad – The Library

As mentioned a few blogs earlier, study time has started.

The only place I can really concentrate and study, is the State Library in Munich. The motto for a lot of chicas and dudes in there is “Hey! Look at me! I’m hot shit!”. Even an uni-magazine wrote about the “cat-walk” in the library (a year ago) and that the library is turning into a dating agency more and more.

I have never seen:

  • so many Mac-Books in one place before (Why? Because Mac is so stylish)
  • so many chics wearing minis before.
  • so many dudes with greasy hair.
  • so many dudes with Polo-shirts before
  • so many chics with boots (over pants) before

A few days ago I went to the bathroom and see a girl paint her face. She was wearing a mini-dress, short sleeves. It’s cold in the library. I start freezing just looking at her and wonder “if she ever had a Bladder Infection”. Do you really need to look pretty when you’re studying? (IF you’re studying).

But actually it’s quite amusing looking at girls in high heels who can’t even walk in them. 🙂

stabi So many people in there have a Macbook. For what, I ask. You can see what the people in front of you use their laptop for, because you sit so close to them (see the image), and most Macbook users use it for Word. And the Internet.

Do I really need to pay about €1500 for a laptop just to use Word and the net? Amusing – once again.

Oh well, I still love studying in there, without the State Library I probably wouldn’t study at all.

Today we visited FOGRA. It’s a Graphic Technology Research Association located in Munich. Things like that (we talked about Color Management, PrePrint, Computer to Plate, ISO, PDF/X, ICC, Proofs) are much more logical when you hear them from people who work with that daily.

Well, I’m back to writing my summary about CtP.

And for whoever is wondering about my sticking-out boobs in mylast post – no, they don’t stick out like that (as much as in the images) 😉

  1. I hate to see libraries turn into dating hot spots. I’m sorry to hear that your study place is turning into one of them! At the science library of my University, kids with MacBooks go to check their Myspace pages and Facebook accounts. Not to mention “hang” and “socialize” with other kids who also dress with minimal use of clothing. Some times you have to “shhhhh” at them to study when you have midterms coming up, and they seem to be in vacation island.

I hope this people don’t disturb you from your studies!

  2. Urgh, library hell! That’s the last thing you want to deal with when you want to get soem hardcore study done – having to battle with a bunch of mentally-conjuncted-post-teens at the sinks and mirrors when you’ve just gone to the loo. I find the overwheming tingling of purfume also a little head-dizzying 😥 – you come out of the toilets and there’s this gust of several different scents wafting out at the same time!

Although, I do love a good Macbook – To use it for just word and the internet is a crying shame! Hand it over to us designers and programmers. Go use a Dell!

Hehhee, anyhow, love the blog! The layout is so very sleek yet girly! Love it!

  3. I hate when such places become unneccessary fashion shows and dating lines. Sounds like my uni’s cafeteria, which is a fashion show at any given time of the day. Cool site you got here! I’ll try to stop by more. See you on Board X!
