Moods and Music

Yesterday evening, 19:30 ((7.30pm)), I was sitting at my desk, playing MahJong on Kitty ((I baptized the pink laptop to the name Kitty)). I was sitting there, waiting for my lover to come and pick me up ((to go do sports)), and I was listening to music. Music, that perfectly fit to the atmosphere and my mood.

So here’s a list of Music and Moods:

  • Mood: Saturday evening, casual feelings, time to relax, maybe take a bath, light candles
  • Norah Jones

Listening to her music makes me feel warm inside. No matter in which mood I am – she brightens it up with her songs. She has an amazing voice and amazing songs.
  • Mood: I’m feeling good and need to shout it out
  • Caesars Palace

You know the feeling you get when it’s sunny outside, the birds are singing, you’re feeling good?
Their music adds the dot on the i.
  • Mood: in a lounge-y mood, background music mood, I-have-the-blues mood
  • AIR

If you’ve seen The Virgin Suicides, Lost in Translation or other Sophia Coppola movies you know what kind of music this is. It’s not everyone’s taste, but it’s so good.
  • Mood: getting-ready-in-the-morning-mood, listening-to-music-loud-mood
  • Daft Punk

Amazing electronic music, which just makes you move along.
If you don’t like Electronica, there’s a chance you might not like Daft Punk, but they’re another great French Band.
  • Mood: ready-for-summer & vacation mood
  • Buena Vista Social Club

I love them. The songs of the old Cuban men make you feel like you’re on vacation. Ibrahim Ferrer and Compay Segundo were probably the two most famous.

FYI, The band’s names link to different pages about the bands or to a list of their songs, in case of Buena Vista Social Club also to a video. Do you listen to different music when you’re in different moods?

  1. Yay, daft punk FTW 😀
I lol’d at the Buena Vista Social Club, because it’s soOoOo typical to hear every single 40+ year old man in this country listening to that kind of music loudly – that includes my father, grandfathers, uncles, neighbors, etc.

  2. I haven’t heard of some of those. I love finding out what kinds of music people listen to. I often check your recent racks down in the footer and have found some surprising songs listed before. 😀

I do sometimes listen to specific songs/artists depending on what kind of mood I’m in. I used to do that more when my husband lived in Canada before we got married. I’d miss him and listen to the most depressing love songs about people missing each other and all.

  3. Daft Punk, I enjoy listening to them also. Norah Jones when I am in the mood for soft music. The others I haven’t heard of. Hmm…I might have some new music to get. Thanks

  4. I absolutely adore Air. I turn it up loudly when I’m doing sketchbook work and just feel like chilling out a little. ‘All I Need’ is my favourite song. I get a feeling you’d love Zero 7 as well, they’re very similar.

  5. Out of all the artists you mentioned, I only have two songs by two of them — “Symphony” by Air and “Don’t Know Why” by Norah Jones. I like “Symphony” because it’s relaxing; the only reason I have it is because it was on the soundtrack for Gossip Girl (haha). Anyway, most of hte time I just have my iTunes on shuffle, but I do switch songs sometimes based on my mood. I don’t know, I’ve never even noticed.

  6. Wait, you play mahjong? 😛 One of my and Chris’s Sims 2 kids is named Kitty haha.

I tend to pick music that suits my mood or that should suit the occasion, too. Like, in the morning when I’m getting dressed for class, I put on some Panic at the Disco or hiphop remixes to make me feel boppy.
