New Year’s Eve

Our Christmas Tree So here’s the question, the question which occurs almost every year: What to do for New Year’s Eve?

Well, I already know. I’m still sick.
Brief history: I’ve had a sore throat the last three weeks. Not the typical sore throat – it was more the feeling that someone was choking me. I thought “Neh, I don’t need to go to the doctor because of that”. Then, one week ago and two days before Christmas, it got worse. I was sick. Of course every doctor was on holiday, so I got an appointment for today at the otorhinolaryngologist. I have a laryngo-pharyngeal and bronchi inflammation and everything is kinda swollen. My lymphs are big – huge! I’m on medication now and I’m happy and really really REALLY hope the infection will go away soon!

So, unfortunately my Christmas wasn’t as great as usual. I’ve been sick for a week now (well, all in all about three weeks), today is the first day it’s a bit better. The thing that worries me is my thesis, of course. I have such a strong headache when I’m sick that it’s impossible to write and concentrate and work on my thesis. But I plan on having it done by the end of the month!! Man, I’ve never been sick so much like in the last 10 months, whilst completing my thesis. I’m sooo sooo sooo happy when it’s done.

Oh, well, New Year’s the Lover is coming over to my place, we’re going to have a nice and lovely dinner and just stay home. For the first time EVER. My mom gave me a little bottle of champaign and we’ll toast on the balcony.

Thanks for the lovely Christmas wishes y’all! And thanks to Sarah Ashley, Jessica, Sarah, Karin, Mendifae, Ori, Anna, Hanna, Hev, Heather, Sara, Ashley, Miranda and Bubs for the sweet Christmas Cards you sent HUG

What are you going to do New Year’s Eve?

  1. Oh no! You’re still sick? Oh well… I’m glad you’re starting to feel better.

I feel like New Years creeped up on me this year. I don’t know what I’m doing yet. I’m gonna find out later if I have to work that night. Hopefully I won’t. I’ll have to look for a party to crash :slide:

  2. Aw, I’m sorry you’re sick! I’ve been sick this christmas too, not nearly as bad as you, but it still sucks… 😥 I hope you’ll be better soon, it’s probably because of stress (with your thesis and all) you’ve been so much sick lately…
Anyways, I’m not in the mood for any partying so I’ll be celebrating with my dad and his family at their cabin 🙂

  3. That’s awful you’ve been sick for so long. My colds always linger on as well. *knock on wood* I haven’t been getting sick much this year – not since the Spring, anyway.

For New Years, I’m going to a friends house for a New Years party. Have a good one. 🙂 :omg:

  4. Good to know you’re feeling better 🙂 I still have no idea what i’m gonna do for New Year’s Eve.. most probably it’s the usual thing.. like go to our relatives house (dad side) and celebrate there. The usual stuff which sometimes bores me already :s

    Advance happy new year!

  5. Wow, I didn’t know a sore throat can end up like this! :nervous: Hope you get well soon ^^

As for what I’m going to do during New Year’s eve, I’ll probably have a dinner with my family members 😀

  6. I actually plan on staying home on New Year’s with a few friends. I think we’re going to drink the night away and when the ball drops, we’ll clumsily kiss each other on the cheeks and collapse on the floor.

I do hope you get better. What’s so crazy is that I had that SAME exact infection as you do. I ended up crying every single time I swallowed my own spit. So I just drooled on napkins for that week. It passed, painfully, but when it was over, I cried out of happiness so much.

    <3 lots of love!

  7. Oh no! I hope the medicine helps and you get well ASAP

I’m going to Gatlinburg (http://www.gatlinburg.com/) for New Year’s Eve. I honestly would rather stay at home with my family but William is dragging me 😛 Hope you and the lover have a wonderful time!

I’m so glad you got my card! <3

  8. Eep, I hope you feel better soon! <3

As for me, I’ve been invited out with friends but I think I’d rather spend New Year’s Eve with family after the disastrous Christmas.

  9. *hugs* I hope you get better soon. *here is warm blanket*

I feel bit funny, New Year 2008 and 2007 I was in Germany but now I am here, at home. I was thinking to buy wine but I think I’ll just drink tea and talk with Jo.

  10. That sucks that you’re still sick!
New Years Eve has been and gone over here, and I didn’t do anything exciting. My family went to a friend’s place to play board games, heheh.

  11. I think new years is sometimes over-rated. That bites that your still feeling under the weather, hope you’re feeling better soon. For me I’ll be stuck at work but its giving me something to do and extra $$ is nice

  12. LMAO hello! I’m a brazilian girl and I liked your blog, it’s cool. Oh, it’s bad you’re sick, but I hope that you will be better in New Year. I’m sorry if you’re not understanding, but I’m still learning your language. =) Kisses!

  13. Come on Tracy, you are getting sick to often! 🙁 Anyway, I hope that you manage to have a great time today.

I don’t plan on doing anything special. I’ll stay home and read a book, pay a brief visit to an aunt later on today, and then come back home and wait for the year to end.

    Well, happy new year HUG

  14. This is the second time I get stuck on your maths question.

Aw, are you doing okay now? I don’t really know what to do in/on New Year Eve. I usually sit infront of my computer like any other days. I celebrate the Lunar New Year which is the official ‘New Year’ for my country.

    🙂 HAPPY NEW YEAR.
