What to do on a Sunday

Seeing I’m still writing on my thesis (yes I know – it’s been a year almost) and I still sit at home 24/7 because I’m writing on it, I’m just going to imagine what I could do tomorrow, on a Sunday…

  1. Go out for breakfast
Ah, I love going out for breakfast with friends/the boyfriend. My favorite menu contains scrambled eggs with bacon or sausages and pancakes with lots of maple sirup.
  2. Go for a walk if it’s a sunny day
Sundays are quite (here in Munich). No stores are open, not as many cars drive through the city. There’s the smell of nature in the middle of the city
  3. Do nothing
That’s nice too every now and again. I love sleeping in, then, when I wake up I’ll just stay in bed. Sometimes I’ll turn on the TV and just watch random things. I get up – make coffee. I check my daily sites online whilst nipping on my coffee with milk, one spoon of sugar. And then, the rest of the day, I’ll do nothing.
  4. Meet with a friend
I might do that tomorrow evening. It’s nice to chat about life, work, men, the apartment… whilst drinking a cafรจ au lait
  5. Devote your time to your website
Update it – add new content, write a blog post, code a little bit here and there, add new links, comment on other blog posts… devote your time to the geek in you
  6. Devote your time to your hobbies
Take photos, go to the gym, go running, ride the bike, do handicrafts, knit, play video games, clean… whatever you want
  7. Visit your parents/mom/dad/relatives
If you don’t live at home anymore. Even if it’s just for dinner. Spend time with your family
  8. Devote time to your beauty
Take a bath, make a peeling, give your hair a deep conditioner, cut your nails and paint them, massage your feet, go for a massage… all that is so relaxing and you feel great afterwards
  9. Clean
Clean your room, apartment, basement, balcony, wash your car or bike
  10. Shop online
In Germany the stores are closed on Sunday (unfortunately). If you’re lazy or if the stores are closed as well where you live, surf online stores, add items to your cart, shop!

Ah, there are so many things you can do on a Sunday. And I’m happy, because next Sunday I’ll have such a day!!

I’m giving up my thesis to the company for proof-reading on Monday (30100 words by now), I’ll drive to work and clean my hard drives (I have two at work – I have so much satellite data for my thesis, one hard drive wasn’t enough). Cleaning up hard drives is not one of my favorite jobs. It’s time consuming and you never know if you can really delete something or if you might need it again.

On Tuesday and Wednesday I’ll proof-read my thesis (if I’m in the mood. I kinda can’t see it anymore…). And on Thursday I’ll take a well deserved vacation – until Sunday! So excited! I’m visiting my parents, my sister, brother-in-law and nephews. The thing I missed most while completing my thesis was not being able to spend time with my family.

My new job starts on Monday, February 2nd 2009. I’ll be working in the GIS software development department (I’ll be in charge of the web design, yet I told my new boss I’m very interested in learning Java, PHP, and everything you need to know). I’ll also be working in the Radar image processing department. Two departments! Wohoo! I’m very excited and nosy. I can’t image I’ll be an employee now – work a full time job – be no student anymore. Earn money, pay all my insurances, pay my rent… scary!

Wish me luck ๐Ÿ˜‰

  1. I rarely go out for breakfast or go for walks anymore (although I wish I did!), but I do almost everything else on your list. Sundays are great when I don’t have any schoolwork due on Monday ๐Ÿ˜›

I wouldn’t want to see my thesis anymore if I’d spent so long working on it, either.

Good luck with your new job! It sounds exciting ๐Ÿ˜€

  2. starting a full time job and becoming really responsible when it comes to paying rent/insurance etc can seem very scary but believe me it’s not that hard. If you don’t start spending your well earned money on things much less needed. It’s all about priorities and smart shopping ๐Ÿ™‚

Good luck with your thesis and your new job!

  3. I love Sundays! I usually end up laying around, watching TV, imagining all the things I want to do without ever really doing them. However, some Sundays I have a very productive day of working out, cleaning, organizing, and then relaxing because I feel that I have had a successful day. The only thing I don’t like about Sundays as that they are the day before Mondays. ๐Ÿ™

  4. If I have nothing to do, I love Sunday. I just sleep, eat, and occasionally I go to the gym. Although, today is a different matter, I have to study. ๐Ÿ™

Congratulations with the new job! YAY

  5. Awww man! You’re making me miss lazy Sundays. I have to work from 5am (YES, in the morning ๐Ÿ˜ฅ ) to 2 pm on Sundays so I miss out on sleeping in on Sunday mornings but I used to do all the things you mentioned. Sunday mornings were always fun spent having breakfast with my girlfriends!

  6. Good luck with your thesis! I can understand that you’re sick of it ๐Ÿ˜› I have a project due Monday, and I have been staring at it for about three months trying to get it done. >.< xD

  7. I did 2, 4 and 6 this sunday! It was so nice to do something else than sit at home and study ๐Ÿ˜€
Good luck with your thesis and your new job!
Thought I’d let you know that my new site is online YAY

  8. I’ve done 3, 4, 5, 6, and 10 on Sundays, though I’d really like to spend a day (doesn’t need to be Sunday) doing 1 and then 9. ๐Ÿ™‚
Spending an entire year writing your thesis must have been exhausting. Good luck on your new job! ๐Ÿ˜€

  9. ROFL That sounds like a pretty awesome list. Pssh, procrastinators unite! (those are awesome emoticons!) :omg: ๐Ÿ‘ฟ :nervous:  ๐Ÿ˜‰ TEehee, anyway, Best of luck with those endeavours!

  10. I prefer Saturday because there are no school the next day. LMAO

The list is pretty long, would there be enough time to do all of them in 1 day? I like the “devote time to beauty”. Ladies these days are too busy and should spend more time pampering themselves, imagine yourself in a warm bubble bath. *Dreams* 8)

  11. I rarely experience a very peaceful Sunday here in Manila. I always have this “on the go” atmosphere even on a Sunday! Yikes. Good luck ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ll be working on my thesis pretty soon too haha.

  12. That’s a great list; lots of good ideas for filling up a Sunday! I’m actually doing #5, #7 and #8 today…going to blog soon, and then I’ll have a bubble bath and visit my grandma. ๐Ÿ™‚

Good luck with starting your new job! It sounds very exciting. And good luck with finishing off your thesis too – that’s quite an achievement!

Btw, I think it’s really cool that you live in Munich…my mum was there a while ago for a conference and she said it’s one of the most beautiful places she’s ever been. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’d love to go there one day myself! Bummer about the shops being closed on Sundays though…

Anyway, just wanted to also say I love your whole site, you’ve got such a pretty layout and some great content too! Did you take the pictures for your icons (in the treats section) yourself? If so, they’re really very good!

  13. Hmm, I loved every single thing on your list. I wish I could do them all everyday. Lately I’ve been indulging in 1, 5, 6 (knitting), and 7! And I’ve had the urge to do my nails recently ^^

Hearing about your new job makes me feel excited for you! It sounds so impressive too :)! I found once i left school and started working, that even tho I was working everyday, i had such a sense of freedom from being able to support myself and just live. Good times. ^^
