It has arrived

I’m blogging this post from my new PC and my new widescreen monitor 🙂 Both work great. McAffe is installed – so no need to worry. Office 07 is a pain. The old Office formats were always quite the same, but Office 07? Totally different. It’s nice looking though and I knew that it’s totally different but I still ordered it, so I’ll have to get used to it sometime soon.

The only thing that’s confusing me is – I ordered the PC with 4GB RAM but when I check with [WINDOWS]+[PAUSE] it tells me I have 3GB. Every order/email/order certificate tells me I have 4GB so I don’t know if I’m just not seeing the other 1GB or if they gave me too less. I’ll probably check out Dell’s support. Odd.

EDIT: I’m not using Vista – I ordered the Windows XP Media Center OS. It’s great for maintaining Music, Photos … all the Media things.

  1. Oh man I just got a new Dell too! Awesome aren’t they? I got 4GB of RAM too and 500 GB harddrive. HOORAY! Aren’t the monitors gorgeous? Wow I love mine haha. I have McAffie as well. It works great! Hope you get that RAM issue figured out.

  2. Congratulations on the new PC! of course that kinda sucks about the 1GB, I hope you’ll find it soon!
Does the PC have Windows Vista pre-installed or something? I don’t trust Vista yet. Yesterday we had to do presentations on a Vista PC which only had 1GB RAM, and it was incredibly slow…

I still have XP – media center edition. I didn’t want Vista just yet. 1GB for Vista ist der Grenzwert I think. I’d like to see it in action though once 🙂

  4. Congrats on the new pc! Makes you wanna hug it don’t it? I have Windows XP Media Center too on my laptop, but I don’t really use it. I’m more of a iTunes gal since I organize all my music through it to my iPod anyway.

  5. I’m a good writer? Hahaha. When I try, I guess 😀

I’d definitely check up on that RAM issue. I wouldn’t be too happy about missing 3/4 of it!

Yeah, I need to check that out today. :/

  7. *sighs* I can’t wait till I acquire some money from work. Then I can buy myself a nice TFT monitor… and a reasonably fast CPU… oh an Vista can wait a couple of years till I’ll trust it.

I didn’t even know that windows + pause showed up that property window *shame on me* But then again I like cliking waaayyy too much.

So enjoy your brand spanking new PC 🙂

  8. I love my Windows XP Media Center. I have used it so many times to look at pics and videos taken with my digi cam and well to watch dvds on my laptop. What inch screen did you get? I have the 17 inch wide screen. I don’t even want Vista cuz I’m still really happy with XP. I even made it a point to order a Dell Latitudes laptop for my husband with Vista on it since Dell told me that they were only selling their computers with Vista… if I just got lied about that… I’m going to be super pissed since I have a freaking $1500 credit card with them and could have used it.

That’s odd that it was hard to understand what I was saying in my video in some parts because of my accent. I guess it might be difficult for some to understand. :shrugs: I have no idea… lol. I’m used to it.

  9. Aw LUCKY! That sounds sooooo NICE! 😀 I really would love a new computer too…I love widescreen monitors! 😀

Oh and yeah definitely ask Dell about that. That is stupid if you didn’t get what you ordered. 👿

Woot for Windows Media Center! I have that on my laptop, it’s cool! 💡

  10. Oo, congrats on the new computer it sounds lovely. I really wanna try out Office ’07… it looks amazing.

Also have to say I love your layout~! The colors are awesome. ^__________^

  11. If you paid for 4GB of memory, and you’re only seeing 3072MB, then you should pop open your case (while it’s off, of course) and physically check and see how many sticks of ram you’ve got, and if you can get to it, see how much each of them are.

Get your money back or the ram back if you don’t have it.

I never really saw what was so special about XP with Media Center. It’s not a new OS at all. It’s the exact same as XP except for one single program, the Media Center. You can easily download any other program out there that would do the same, and save a little bit of money.
