4 GB it is

A few days ago I called Dell to see what’s up with the 3GB RAM – turns out I DO have four, but the windows 32-bit system can’t desplay it (don’t ask me why or what). I checked the BIOS and yep, 4GB 🙂

Life’s busy at the moment, I’m wondering when I’m going to start being the moody bitch I always turn into during exam time. Those exams are so damn huge and there’s soooo much to study for, 10 hours a day on the weekend don’t seem to be enough (and during the week a few hours). Plus the assignements, which are also not small. I wish the exams would be after the semester, because then we’d have time to study. But no, they’re DURING the semester, starting one day after the last class. 🙁

Back to Dell – I was installing (or configurating) the Operating System and XP asked what name the computer should have. I typed in “Tracy”. Then it asked me which other people have access to this PC, I typed in “Tracy” and “Alex”. Ok, so “Tracy” I couldn’t use, because the computer’s name is already Tracy, so… I put in Alex. And NOW?!?! The Computer is registered for Alex, everything I save goes under ALEX. Argh – does anybody know IF I can change that? If you press [WINDOWS] + [PAUSE] – there it will say who the PC is registered for.

Oh well, I just guess that shows how much I love him.. haha.. 😛

I’m eating Mac & Cheese right now – from the States – haven’t had that in years, it already had its due date two years ago 😀 It still tastes sooo good though!

  1. Loool, you named your pc Alex? That’s so cute ^^ Anyway, you can probably change it. Just go to your control panel on users. There you can change the name of the users on the computer if you’re on an admin.

And YAY for 4 GB! Woah, I want 😐

  2. Oh good at least it IS four for sure! 😀 I love my dell, It has so much space. 🙂 Ughh my examas are coming up too… 🙁 They start next week. God I HATE exams time, I just bitchy too and I’m just on edge all the time. It will hopefully be over with and I’ll do well. Good luck on yours! ? Oh man I love Mac & Cheese! There white chedder is good as well. Yum.

  3. 4 GB of RAM is ALOT. I would be thrilled, lol. I also like to code, so I don’t think that’s weird at all. I don’t ever breathe out of my mouth unless I have to.. like if my nose is stuffy or something. I don’t know why, it’s just a habit I guess?

  4. With the ram:
32bit operating system means, that the os can adress 2^32 (=4294967296) thingies. 4GB memory happens to be 4294967296byte. So at first look, no problem.

But you got other things in your pc as well, soundcards, network, grafik. These cards have adresses to and need to be adressed. So the bios maps them somewhere above 3gb.

Windows cannot tell if at 4293447296 a piece of your ram or some adress from your graphics card is located so it doesn’t use the last gb. There are some switches to make slightly more than 3gb usable but this tends to be unstable.

By the way, i came from adastras.
